URGENT PRESS RELEASE – NOV 13th 2009
PARADISE LOST – TOUR CANCELLATIONS

As some of you maybe aware, we have had to use a stand in guitarist (Milly Evans) to replace Greg Mackintosh for a few dates due to a serious illness within Greg's family. We did this with the sole purpose to prevent having to cancel any shows and to avoid disappointing fans that had already bought tickets and were looking forward to the concerts.

So it is with great regret that we have to unavoidably announce that some gigs must be postponed for now and rescheduled as soon as possible. This is due to prior commitments Milly Evans has with his own band. We are working round these to fly him back and forth wherever possible to minimise any disruption to the tour, but we ask you to bear with us in this difficult time. The list of gigs to be postponed are as follows:

3rd Dec - Romania
4th Dec - Bulgaria
5th Dec - Croatia

10th Dec - Switzerland
11th Dec - Germany
12th Dec - Switzerland

If there are any further up-dates we will bring them to you asap.

Thanks again for your understanding.

Tragically, Lead Guitarist Greg Mackintosh will be unable to continue with Paradise Lost’s ‘Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us’ tour of Europe due to a terminal illness within his family.

Greg’s father was taken critically ill some weeks ago, yet Greg decided to commence the tour anyway in the hope that future news from home would be positive.

This unfortunately was not the case, therefore (as of 6th November 2009), Greg will remain in England to support his relatives during this difficult time.

Everyone involved with the band would like to offer Greg our support and to let him know all our thoughts are with him.

The tour will not end here though.

Milly Evans, (Paradise Lost’s long-standing Guitar Technician, and keyboardist from Terrorvision), will fill in for Greg with immediate effect.

Having worked with the band for many years, Milly knows Paradise Lost’s repertoire far more than most, and will endeavour to provide a seamless transition between guitarists. Milly is highly regarded among Paradise Lost’s fan-base and is the best person to fill Greg’s role in the band for the rest of the European tour.

We apologise in advance to those of you who will be joining us for the European dates and will no doubt be disappointed by Greg’s absence. However, I am sure you will appreciate this unfortunate situation was unavoidable and everyone is doing everything they can to ensure the shows run as smoothly as possible.

Tattoo the Mind Festival, France, Oct 11 - 12 Cancelled

It is with great regret that we've been informed of the cancellation of the Tattoo the Mind Festival in Metz where we were scheduled to headline on October 10th. Apparently the festival didn't sell enough tickets making it necessary to cancel the whole event which is a terrible shame as the line-up was an amazing one. An official statement from the promoter can be found here: http://www.bravewords.com/news/122945

We hope to be able to re-schedule a new date in the area soon and we hope to see you all there instead.

FAITH DIVIDES US - DEATH UNITES US
(Century Media)

Remarkably, this British institution has now reached a dozen albums within
two decades, proving not only their longevity but their productivity. In fact,
it's the band's regular release schedule that has allowed their every shift in
style to be observed and documented, moving gradually from doom/death
metal to gothic metal, to gothic rock and back again. While every album has
been something of an evolution from the last, their 2005 self-titled effort
was perhaps the most dramatic jump - a back-to-the-roots album that saw
the band return to more metallic territories, something that has continued
with 2007's In Requiem, as well as on this album. Keyboards are kept to a
minimum and further electronics are notable by their absence, the guitar
leads carry that gothic vibe of the early albums and Nick Holmes' vocals
retain the aggression and gruffness lost in their 'Depeche Mode' period. If
anything this is a drier, heavier listen than its predecessor, second track I
Remain having a hint of 90s death metal in it's chugging guitars while
Universal Dream harks back to the group's death/doom beginnings. It was
the epic atmosphere - along with the riffs that lodged themselves in your
subconscious - that made albums such as Icon and Draconian Times so
essential, and this solid, resonant album lies within reach of Paradise Lost's
glory days.

Legendary Yorkshire doomsters deliver their best album in a decade

If any band's going to come up with such a chirpy title as that, it's Paradise
Lost. Twenty-one years in the game, and the Halifax gloom metallers can
still come up with new ways of presenting darkness to the world. As far as
PL records go, Faith Divides Us... is a stripped down affair, relying on weight
and grimness of the riffs and frontman Nick Holmes' cynical lyrics to bring
the gloom, more than on keyboards. The result is an album steeped in a
particular kind of darkness that only they can create. Not selfish, woe is me
moaning, but that oh so English gloom that makes tracks like As Horizons
End into a superbly haunting bit of bleak metal. And they're doing this stuff
better than they have in a good decade. Hopefully that'll make them smile...
Maybe.
