It's a chore of a movie. I really dig the champagne-colored cinematography but the imagery itself varies from excellent to laughable: sorry, but I just couldn't take seriously the floating Buddha-Jackman and the big "spiritual" climax in outer space played more like a 1990s alternative rock video. The best scenes are the ones set in the present and especially the fifteenth century Spain/South America - very nice production design.

This is the most amazing movie I've ever seen. My husband didn't care for it, but I think you need to have a special sensibility to get this movie. Every time I see the movie, I see something else or differently or have a better understanding. It's hard to describee but I "feel" this movie-this movie actually touches me like I am remembering something in my past. So many remember "Death is the road to Awe" but this is not about death really it's about rebirth-you have experience (awe) death to be reborn-being together to be one. The ending really is all about rebirth. The imagery is suggestive of a fetus (he is inside a bubble with no hair) moving through the birth process (the most difficult thing we ever experience). He moves down a tunnel toward light then explodes-much the same experience as a baby at the time of birth being suddenly pushed into a world full of light, noise, being touched, and feeling. When a baby is created, 2 have been joined to make one. Anyway that's my understanding of The Fountain today, but I will probably get something else out of it the next time I watch it.

A deep and meaningful story that can be viewed and interpretted in many ways.Superb acting from both leads, great direction and jaw dropping to look and listen to.This movie panned on release but has certainly found its admirers,i for one was moved to tears by the end and it will remain one of my favourite films.

Beautiful film. Hugh Jackman's best dramatic role to date, with The Prestige close behind.

An incredibly beautiful, and deeply affecting film. I get something new out of it every time I see it.

I think I saw this movie a year or two ago. I loved what I understood but I don't think I fully understood it. Have to watch it again. It was a masterpiece alright. I love Rachel Weisz :)
