OLDBOY, what can be said about it? Its everything that a good movie should be, its one of the best films ever made, a truely beautiful and amzing piece of cinema heaven, this film is great in all possible ways. A cineasts wet dream, cinematography, acting, and the story of a man incarcerated for 15 years then for some reason released with no explination only with a mobile phone is so multi layered and fantastic its almost sureal. The 2nd in Wooks vengeance trilogy is by far the best, but you are urged to watch the 1st, 'Sympathy for mr vengeance' and the 3rd 'Lady Vengeance' to complete one of the best trilogies ever. Chan wooks direction is seamless in all 3, all you may need now and again is a slightly strong stomach. But i believe that anyone with the slightest interest in cinema as an art to watch this, and the other 2. 5 stars is no where near enough.

Oldboy, Park Chan-Wook's second part of what would become his "revenge trilogy", is a masterclass in foreign filmmaking and a must see for any aspiring filmmaker (such as myself).
Never before, in the history of film, has a plot been so multi-layered and detailed as this. Both beautiful and shocking, Oldboy concerns Oh-Dae-Su, a korean man who is inexplicably kidnapped after a drunken episode, and then held for 15 years. His imprisonment is, obviously, not without it's shocking moments, such as Dae-Su's Ant Nightmare.
After the eventual release of Dae-Su, the film does not let up until the twist ending (The most shocking in the history of film). Sure, it's not for everyone, but nobody can argue with a film with this much appeal.

Very good, but didn't understand a word of it - and not just because I don't speak Korean.
