rumours have it that Hollywood, are going to be remaking this masterpiece with American! actors and a simpler storyline!
Tarantino and Rodriguez have been rumoured as dorectors, if this is true im sure they wouldnt disapoint fans of the original, but still why wreck a masterpiece?

there are rumors of them remaking oldboy, but it would NEVER be directed by tarantino or rodriguez. oldboy just isnt their style, and they are fully aware of that. besides, tarantino and rodriguez only make movies that they want to make. the studios never give them assignments.

Tarrantino is an amazing director. He shouldn't lower himselft by doing an American remake. They always steal other countries' films and make them shit. Why do it?!

All of Tarantino's movies are pretty much remakes, in a sense or another. He steals a little from here and a little from there, creating his own collection of stolen key scenes from classics and festival films... but I agree with everyone... DO NOT REMAKE Oldboy... Koreans deserve to keep this movie in their treasure-chest.

It's rumored that Charlize Theron will be remaking Sympathy for LADY Vengeance...
^^^I think the remake of it will hopefully be better than the movie since Lady Vengeance had mixed reviews

I think this won't be a remake, but a sort of "gift" to all CW Park fans. If Tarantino or Rodriguez is the director we have nothing to fear about. THey know very well how Old Boy, Lady and Mister Vengeance cannot be replicated.

" All of Tarantino's movies are pretty much remakes, in a sense or another. "
That's not true in the slightest Tarantino is an original writer 'stealing' ideas is completely the wrong word for it.. Everyone looks at films/scenes and gets inspired by them, but if you look at films such as pulp fiction and four rooms Tarantino's work just shines as original.
As for Oldboy no one could get away with remaking it and producing the same twisted, mystifying, poetic story and effective script in an American version, I think it would be interesting to see nonetheless.

To Hollywood: Please stop fucking up great movies by making watered-down versions that are palatable to American audiences. Are most Americans really so egocentric that they don't want to watch "foreigners" on screen? Maybe they are just too lazy to read subtitles!

DO NOT REMAKE THIS FILM!
NO!
And Tarantino could be considering directing because he was the driving force behind the Cannes award, he tried to get it the Palme d'Or instead of the safer choice of Fahrenheit 9/11.
An American remake would ruin this film as can be seen with all of the other asian remake imports. Why try and water down a great movie for the american public instead of actually coming up with new original content.
.... please please please do not do this.
And Will Smith... really?!
NO!

Tarantino won't admit it, but he rips off foreign films all the time. Reservoir Dogs is almost a complete remake of a Hong Kong film called "City on Fire". Not to take away from what he's done, he is one of the better directors out there. That being said, Spielberg has a serious ego problem. He needs to learn to not only leave his own films (some of which are amazing) alone, but those of others as well. The thought of Will Smith as Ohdaesu makes me wanna puke.

OLDBOY is a beauty which got made.. people saw it, loved it.. but now no sense of remaking it..
What's the sense of just to make a film and get associated with.. just because its a Masterpiece.
Better to have something of your own.. and then Create a history with that.
